Tax return filing deadlines: an overview
Tax return filing deadlines: an overview
June 2023 – Following the annual tax return, the FPS Finance lists on its website the filing deadlines you need to consider this year.
Which deadlines can you find in MyMinfin?
Are you a taxpayer required to file a tax return?
The following deadlines are listed in MyMinfin:
30 June 2023, if you receive a paper return
18 October 2023, if you have specific income (profits, gains, remuneration of company directors, remuneration to assisting spouses and/or foreign professional income)
15 July 2023, in all other cases
Good to know:
Is the stated deadline 30 June 2023 and you have no specific income? Then you can file your tax return (or have it filed) until 15 July 2023.
Is the stated deadline 30 June or 15 July 2023 and you have no specific income? Then you can file (or have filed) your tax return until 18 October 2023.
In these two cases, you do not need to take any additional action as far as the deadline is concerned. This is because the tax administration automatically takes into account the real deadline when processing your tax return.
Also important for mandataries is that the tax administration will be flexible on returns that need to be filed before 15 July 2023. This gives mandataries a chance to adjust to the new deadlines.
As a taxpayer, have you received a simplified declaration proposal?
In this case, an amendment to the simplified declaration proposal can be made via Tax-on-web until 15 July 2023.
If you have received a proposal of simplified declaration, but do not have specific income, you must notify your competent office in advance (or have it notified) in order to obtain a postponement until 18 October 2023. This notification can be done without supporting documents.
