Mandatory training plan: deadline approaches
March 2024 - By the end of March, companies with 20 or more employees must have a labour deal training plan ready. A survey shows that nearly 4 in 10 SMEs have that plan ready today. About a third have yet to start.
What is the labour deal?
The labour deal contains a series of measures to reform the labour market. The goal is to bring the employment-to-population ratio to 80% by 2030. With the training plan, the government wants to encourage lifelong learning. In addition, the deal also includes an individual training right for employees of 5 days per year, unless the sector has still temporarily reduced that number.
Training Account
Employers will be required to establish a training account for each employee, which will show training privileges, the training courses taken and the balance. That training account will be managed in the Federal Learning Account (FLA) that will be launched by the government from April 2024. The intention is for employers to add to it all training courses taken and regularly check the pre-filled data.
Homework done?
A survey by Acerta shows that only 38 per cent of the more than 500 SMEs surveyed have finished their homework today. A third are working on it and another 30 percent have yet to start. The training plan must be submitted to employees by March 15 and registered by March 31. Audits may follow from the end of April.
SMEs that are not yet ready with their training plan must hurry. They should do so today rather than tomorrow, because SMEs may have some difficulty in complying with the new formalities imposed by the labour deal.
