Extension of energy aid for Flemish companies
Extension of energy aid for Flemish companies
July 2023 – Flemish companies faced with the consequences of the energy crisis could apply for financial support for the fourth quarter of 2022 until February 2023.
At the end of February, the Flemish government announced an extension of this support, more specifically until the first quarter of 2023. Today, it is possible to apply for this 'energy support 2'. That application can be submitted until 30 June 2023.
The strict conditions that applied for the last quarter of 2022 were relaxed. These conditions are still being assessed compared to 2021.
Some of the more lenient conditions:
Energy costs for a company must have increased by at least 50% (instead of the previous doubling)
A negative gross profit (EBITDA) is no longer required, but a decrease of at least 50% compared to the reference EBITDA is required
The total incremental cost of energy must be at least 50% of the EBITDA decrease, with a cap at 35% of reference EBITDA.
The additional conditions - such as a total energy cost of €7,500 (excluding VAT) in 2021, the non-payment of a dividend between 1 October 2022 and 31 December 2023 and activity of at least 5 years in the Flemish Region - continue to apply.
